What are the chances of a cat surviving outside in a blizzard?

In NW Indiana right now, we are having a horrible blizzard. I was in my living room, looking out the window, and I saw a cat just wandering outside. I tried to go out there and it ran away. I'm nervous, and I really hope it's okay, will it survive?|||Try putting some food out if you have a porch. What i do is get a rubbermaid storage crate put the lid on then cut out a doorway..you can put blankets in there..that's for the future.

For right now there's not much you can do except put food out.

Cats have a way of finding shelter to stay out of the wind. I understand how you feel.|||well you could hook up a heat lamp and it would get under it put some food beside or under it so it will go and feel the warmth and put water near the lamp but not under so it wont get to hot for the cat to drink and a old pillow could be put out and it could survive the blizzard easily|||If this cat is a regular alley cat, not to worry. But cats raised inside may not have as good a chance. Long haired cats, if this cat happens to be long haired, would tend to take on and soak up water. Therefore a long haired cat may have a harder time at it. But one thing is for sure, cats have been around for a long time, I believe this cat will be o k.|||The cat will find a sheltered spot to curl up in and sleep through the storm. The temperature here in Saskatchewan will be MINUS 30F degrees tonight and there is a bitter wind. We have feral cats across the road that have weathered far worse than this, and they have a fresh batch of kittens too.|||These answers make me feel better. We have a feral cat running around our neighborhood. I put food out for it everyday but we can't get near it. I put a box out there for it but I don't think it ever used it. We think it might go into our neighbors basement or some old cars my husband has in the back yard.|||As sunshine said, put dry food out there Put a plastic box cut a hole with hay (if you have, it doesn't mold like towels) if no hay is available towels or rags or anything to give warmth. She/he will find shelter under a house to someplace.|||Don't worry the cat will probably survive. offer some food, maybe a box for shelter, dont worry it will be fine
