What do people do when a blizzard is coming?

I am doing a report on man vs. nature and i have chosen blizzards as the nature part. I have to explain what people do when a natural event is coming. Do people try to fight through the blizzard, do they go along with it? I need some help on what people do...if you can help thanks so much!|||they stock-up on food and whatever kind of heating fuel they use like wood or coal or propane and they would also stock-up on candles or fuel burning lamps.
