Why are there three different Blizzard spells in World of Warcraft?

I was looking at the spells for mages, and it says there are three different blizzards. What is the difference in them?|||Most likely you're looking at ranks of the spells. For example, a rank 3 blizzard would cause far more damage than a rank 1 blizzard.





In this case you would be using the highest, most powerful blizzard. The only difference is the spell damage and in some cases casting time.|||The difference between the different blizzards is damage and mana cost.





Essentially it is the same spell, but different versions. Much like Fireball has a bunch of ranks, each one more powerful than the one before it.|||To add on to what Markface mentioned, another factor regarding the different ranks of Blizzard would be the mana required to cast the spell.
