I want to be a computer programmer for blizzard entertainment and work on some of their big projects. What would I need for this? How much prior experience, education, etc.|||You need knowledge in programming and courses to gain a good enough standard of work are about 6Years +.
I am currently 15 and have been programming computers for 5 Years, this knowledge to me is important due to the fact my whole life is based around computing and I too want to be a professional programmer when I am older. I am very advanced in my Programming and it is something I take seriously. I have helped to make various games on sites like www.addictingames.co.uk and www.minclip.com and that is really the place to start.
I am currently on a course now which I started 1 1/2 years ago doing Graphic designs for gaming systems which has another 2 years too go. However, once I finish the course I will be 17 and a fully qualified Graphic designer, which means I can go straight to work and employment.
What I'm trying to tell you is, you cannot become a Programmer at a company like Blizzard Entertainment overnight, you need to put a lot of work into it. This certainly isn't a job for someone known to give things up when they get boring.
You need to be very educationally gifted too. You need A's to become a programmer, nothing less.
I have devoted my entire teenage life so far to programming and computing and I aim to achieve something by the time I am 18 and that looks pretty promising. I had a local software company approach me about 6months ago to do some work there, however due to school life and my current course I had to decline the offer.
